AMC / Common User Facility
The new Common User
Facility will enable the berthing and repair
of ships alongside the 3,000 and 15,000 tonne
wharves, which are supported by a warehouse and
workshop area, project offices and an 80m X 60m
X 35m high fabrication hall.
These facilities will become operational progressively
from now until the end of 2002, with the fabrication
hall due for completion in April 2003.
JBFM-Babcock is the Government’s preferred
proponent to manage the Common User Facility.
JBFM-Babcock is a joint venture between local
company JB Facilities and the Australian division
of Babcock International, a worldwide defence
and marine facility manager.
The joint venture provides expertise in the defence
and marine industry and in the oil and gas resources
sector, removing the dependence of a single market
for work in the new facilities.
